New to our website is Retro Bird Designs, where you will find handmade and retro inspired clothing and gifts. Mostly for children and those that are young at heart.

Retro Bird designs was born out of a desire to create original and innocent clothing and gifts for children from high quality designer fabrics. I enjoy making clothing and gifts that are as individual as the child, friend, sister, mother or daughter you are buying for. The range continues to evolve and grow with more paper doll softies planned for 2010.

For babies there's a range of Environmentally friendly organic cotton and bamboo, with designer cotton Burp Cloth and Change mat sets. These are available for girls, boys and neutrals, for those that want a surprise. Coordinating Bibs and Onesies are available too.

You will also find lovely hand pieced designer fabric brooches, belts and baubles for women, along with miniature version's for the little girl in your world.

make - a cup of love

with many of us up early this valentines day and headed down to the market, I've been searching for a quick simple heartfelt gesture to greet my husband with when he gets up. I've found just the thing, and I think you will agree it's super easy and super cute and perfect for me to make at 5.30am! If you are going to make it from scratch then here's how you do it....

* 4 cups milk
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* 2 tablespoons plus one teaspoon unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
* 4 tablespoons finely chopped or shaved semisweet chocolate

Bring all ingredients to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until chocolate has melted (do not let boil). Pour into mugs, and serve with marshmallow's with the centres cute out using heart shaped cookie cutters....

inspiration can strike anytime anywhere!!!
I was wondering through Kmart this morning of all places and saw these little paper and felt hearts....well, I snapped them up and came home to find some matching ribbon and perfecto....after a quick sew through the sewing machine I will have a cute little garland to hang for Valentines Day!
Love it.
