Seasonal Friday....

Yesterday I picked up these divine roses for a shoot I have today with a newborn baby girl.
They are called 'Eden Romantica' - so even the name is gorgeous!
I love the combination of the antique, dusty pink edged with the moss green.
I will post the results with the baby next week on my blog if you want to see what ends up happening to them!

Seasonal Friday....

This week saw a few of us 'Boutique Market' people enjoy a divine lunch at Manx Portside.
Yummy yummy!!!
They have a great lunch offer with 2 courses and a glass of wine for $30, so treat yourself - the desserts are stunning!
As bananas are in season at the moment, I went for the banana and lime spring rolls (picture below) with passionfruit dipping sauce ...divine...just divine....
one of the simplest desserts we have at home is a platter of banana cut up, drizzled with lemon juice and then sprinkled with castor sugar - try it this weekend!

Seasonal Friday....

Funny how things come in waves sometimes.....there definately seems to be a huge humber of people I know pregnant at the moment - myself included!
This gorgeous belly is my sisters at 36 weeks - our babies will be about 5 or six months apart.
There's also a few babies due soon from stallholders at the Boutique Markets, and some born recently.....the stork has been very busy.
So seems to be the season for it!!!!!

Seasonal Friday....

Oh the utter joy to see mangos this week!!!!
My daughter and I are huge fans of this divine fruit and she told me excitedly that she's been waiting ALL YEAR for them to come back - a long time when you're 8 years old!
We raced home and sliced up one each to 'toast' the mango season....savouring each and every bite - there's nothing as sweet as the first taste for the year.

Seasonal Friday.....

Jacaranda love......
they say this time of year always reminds us of exams and assignments due at Uni - the beautiful mauve blooms are on almost everywhere in Brisbane. We had a very sickly, weedy tree, starved of light and care in a courtyard near the library at Uni....so I can't say I used to gaze out the window at it and do my research....
I was always the one who left work till the night before it was due - still do really!

Seasonal Friday

While at the Boutique Markets on Sunday I was lucky enough once again to be situated opposite the divine flowers from Bloomworks! I spent a lot of the day day-dreaming about photographing all the delicate blooms and the gorgeous colours....so I was tickled pink when I saw these Ranunculus this week and snapped up 3 bunches to play with and then display around the house.
Don't you just adore the hues, the tones and the masses and masses of petals!
Have a gorgeous spring day,
Taryn.

Welcome to spring!

Well a few days late.... but spring is here!!!
I have been very taken with blossoms this year and I have been known to walk past a house close to us with blossoms hanging over the fence multiple times in a day!
These are from my last visit just before all the green leaves appeared and the show was all over for another season.
Have a happy floral spring day,
Taryn.

In the pipeline....

Finally, after months and months of trying to source the perfect glass......
I found these gorgeous paperweights from the US which I am adhearing my photographs to!!
I can't wait to see how they look as I'm just unpacking the boxes today and won't get photographs done until next week. What a perfect round organic shape and I love the way the glass distorts the light and shapes inside...stay tuned for the finished product....

The finished product!

So after some glue, screws, nails and a staple gun...the loose letters from last Friday become my new sign for Sundays Boutique Market. I enjoyed a glorious winters day, met a few new retailers and was really pleased my new products - the photo tins and new range of cards, did so well with lots of compliments and sales.
Bring on next month!!

Final touches

For once I'm determined to get organised early and pack all the treasures up for the markets today. Sometimes I feel I'm back at uni finishing off an asignment the night before it's due the way I seem to leave things to the last second!
I've been thinking of ideas all month to come up with a display for the back wall of the 'tent' and
was really pleased yesterday when I found these gorgeous wooden letters....so today I'm deciding what to do with them....come and see for yourself on Sunday at the Boutique Markets at Portside 8am -1pm.

Circles circles everywhere!

It's that time again....busy busy busy creating new things for next Sundays Boutique Market.
As I had such great feedback and sales of my cards last month....this time I'm playing around a bit more with circles - using my stash of collected papers and some of my
favourite photos too of course!
Have a gorgeous day,
Taryn.

...and breathe out.....

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have a long weekend away up at O'Reilly's.
It didn't stop raining for nearly 3 days which made us all relax, read, sit by the fire and watch the rain - very soothing.

We braved a short walk in light drizzle and I got to take a few snaps which I hope to get on some new cards I'm designing for the next Boutique Market.

So if you're ever looking for a decadent day spa - this is the one! Views forever, you really do feel like you're in a 'Lost World'.

The rain looked like snow! soft, big drops.
Have a good Friday, Taryn.

In the work room...

Here I am deep into preparing work for the Boutique markets on Sunday at Portside 8am -1pm..... I've been playing around with cutting photographs into circles and making them into gift tags and greeting cards! So much fun and I really love the texture you get with the sewing machine stitching over the top.
See you Sunday!!

A stroll through Ascot

Today I drove through Ascot to Portside and thought to myself that I should make the time to take photos there one day of the lovely old houses...so after being snapped myself for a local newspaper about the markets...I drove back and went for a walk camera in hand...
Taryn.
